The objective of this project is to support BiotechCorp Malaysia’s BioNext Programme to create 10 world class Malaysian home grown Bio-based companies by 2020. This project involved undertaking tangible activities to develop and support Malaysian Bio-based companies to internationalise their offerings.
This 9-month programme is actively engaged in the selection (from a pool of 20), coaching and support of 10 participating companies to make their mark in the global arena. This programme also aims to enhance the capacity building and to assist companies in the creation, implementation and realisation of tailor made internationalization strategies. In order to achieve these objectives a holistic approach will be designed to ensure these targets are met.
This project implemented by Malaysian Biotech Corporation through BDEC Resources and Isis Enterprise, includes helping the small and medium enterprises to upgrade the status of certification and recognition that is deemed significant in the biotechnology industry and to take advantage of the government funding schemes and existing investment platforms.
BDEC Malaysia’s role comprised of four steps:
- Programme kick-off, promotion and establishment of selection criteria;
- Conducting a KL-based workshop to coach the applicant companies in identifying and evaluating new market opportunities, performing competitor analysis, and writing and delivering compelling business pitches;
- Develop and host the Biotechnology-focused Oxford Accelerator Programme (OAP) which comprise classroom, coaching, and company visits, and resulting in the creation of executable action plans;
- Supporting the 10 selected companies in execution of their action plans.
